One of the most successful Olympians in Canadian sport history, Marc Gagnon is a three-time Olympian who won a total of three gold and two bronze medals while representing Canada in short track speed skating during his Olympic career.
A four-time World Champion and the holder of every major title in short track speed skating, Gagnon's total of five Olympic medals is the most decorated Canadian Male Athlete in the history of Winter Olympics.
An Olympian in 1994, 1998 and 2002, the Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City were Gagnon's finest hour as he captured gold in the 500 metres and 5,000-metre relay discipline to go along with a bronze medal in the 1,500-metre event. Gagnon's other Olympic podium finishes included gold in the 5,000-metre relay at the 1998 Olympic Winter Games in Nagano and a third-place result in the 1,000 metres during the 1994 Olympic Winter Games in Lillehamer.
Following his success in Salt Lake City, Gagnon retired from the Canadian national team in September 2002 after a brilliant 24-year career with 10 on the Canadian national team. Gagnon is currently involved in a number of different projects ranging from business ventures to public speaking functions to broadcasting. He is currently the co-owner of both the Cage aux Sports restaurant on René-Lévesque Street in downtown Montreal and the fitness centre Énergie Cardio in Anjou.
